About Me

Well, I can't just leave this page blank.....

Ooooh, this is going to be hard, I really don't like public speaking and I really don't like to talk about myself......

Gulp......

Here goes......

My name is Kim and I've been involved with glass in one temperature or another for approximately 20 years now.  I started with stained glass.  I fell in love with the look of the light as it filtered through the colored glass.  About 7 years ago, my darling husband bought me a kiln for Christmas and my stained glass work was soon replaced by fusing and slumping glass.  Then four years ago, my husband bought me a little Hot Head kit for Christmas.  (He didn't ask me what I wanted this year...wonder why? :-) ) I had told him that I wanted to make simple coordinating beads to use with my fused jewelry.  Ha!  Little did he (or I) know how alluring the flame of the torch is!  I've been hooked ever since!!  I am still amazed that one can create little works of art from round rods of glass.

Since I was a teacher, I'm one for constantly learning new things.  I've been fortunate enough to take classes from such people as Corina, Jim Smircich, Brad Pearson, Jennifer Geldard, Jason Herring, and Tink Martin, among others.  Without their guidance I wouldn't have been able to do half the stuff I do now.

When my daughter was married I had the great pleasure of making the jewelry for her wedding.  I was proud to be a small part of what may be the most memorable day of her life.

Hopefully, in the near future I'll be able to get into glassblowing....no, not really, but I just had to say that.  My DH swears that one day I'm going to tell him that that's what I'm doing next! :-)  Seriously, I'm hoping in the future to be able to do more sculptural pieces.
